The Saturday afternoon session features interviews and readings by a number of well-known writers:

Since publishing her debut novel, The Country Girls, in 1960 Edna O’Brien has created a hugely acclaimed body of work, which includes numerous short story collections. Edna will discuss her work with critic, journalist and broadcaster Alex Clark. Followed by tea / coffee break.
4.00 - 4.45 Will Self
Will Self is one of the leading voices in contemporary literature. Umbrella, his most recent novel, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2012. Join Will as he reads one of his short stories in full and discusses his work.
5.00 - 6.00 How relevant is the short story in 2013?
Will Self, Claire Keegan, Cynan Jones and Alex Clark look at the marketability and appeal of short story collections and what the future may hold, both in print and digital, for this often misunderstood genre.
